Mount Union Welcomes 18 New Faculty Members, Two Head Coaches

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The University of Mount Union welcomes 18 new faculty members and two full-time coaches this fall.

Professor Betty Allen of Louisville, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as assistant professor of nursing. Before joining the Mount Union faculty, she taught and practiced clinically at Aultman College and Hospital. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Malone University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Valparaiso University, an Associate Degree in Nursing from Purdue University and a Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Hannah E. Mullins School of Practical Nursing.  Allen is finishing up a doctorate degree at Nova Southeastern University.

 

Professor Monica Andreski of North Canton, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as assistant professor of nursing. She was previously employed by the Akron Children’s Hospital within the Center of Nursing Professional Practice as the clinical instructor program coordinator. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Benedictine University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Walsh University.

 
Dr. Shehla Arif of Montreal, Canada, will join the Department of Engineering this fall as assistant professor of engineering. Arif previously taught engineering courses at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She received a Doctor of Philosophy degree at Northwestern University, Master of Science degree from Bucknell University and Bachelor of Engineering degree with honors from the University of Engineering and Technology in Lehore, Pakistan, all in mechanical engineering.  

Professor Stacey Cederbloom of Salem, Ohio, will join the Department of Mathematics as an instructor of mathematics. She previously taught mathematics at Canfield High School. She earned a Master of Arts degree in education from Ashland University and Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Mount Union.

 

Professor Perri Concialdi of Canton, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as clinical assistant professor of nursing. She works at Kothari Medical Associates, Inc. Concialdi received a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Kent State University, Master of Science in Nursing degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Kent State University and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Akron.

 

Professor Andrea Corbisello of Salem, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as director of nursing laboratory and clinical experiences and clinical assistant professor of nursing. She previously taught at as an assistant professor at Kent State University College of Nursing. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Franciscan University of Steubenville and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Kent State University.

 

Professor Dana Domer of Canton, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as clinical coordinator and assistant professor of physician assistant studies. She works at the Aultman Health Foundation in Canton, Ohio as a physician assistant. Domer earned a Master of Science degree in advanced physician assistant studies from Arizona School of Health Sciences and Associate of Applied Sciences degree from Cuyahoga Community College.

 

Dr. Andrea Ferraro of Clinton, Ohio, will join the Department of Communication as visiting assistant professor of communication. Prior to Mount Union, she taught at the University of Akron’s School of Communication. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in urban studies and public affairs, Master of Arts degree in communication and Bachelor of Arts degree in mass media, all from the University of Akron.

 

Dr. Joshua Gargac of South Bend, Indiana, will join the Department of Engineering as assistant professor of engineering. He was previously a teaching assistant at University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in bioengineering from the University of Notre Dame and Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Ohio Northern University.

 

Dr. Michael Gresock of University Park, Pennsylvania, will join the Mount Union faculty as instructor of biology. He previously worked as a teaching assistant in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The Pennsylvania State University. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in biochemistry, microbiology and molecular biology at The Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Vincent College.

 

Professor Sheryl Holt of Wheeling, West Virginia, will join the Mount Union faculty this fall as assistant professor of physical therapy. She previously worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Wheeling Jesuit University. She serves as the research and education director at ALS Care Project. She earned a Master of Science degree in physical therapy from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy from Georgia State University. Holt is finishing up a doctorate degree in Rehabilitation Science with a concentration in Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky.

 

Dr. Malynnda Johnson of Mankato, Minnesota, will join the Department of Communication as assistant professor of communication. Prior to joining the Mount Union faculty, she was assistant professor at Minnesota State University. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in health communication and public health from the University of Wisconsin, a Master of Arts degree in applied communication and interpersonal communication from the University of Wisconsin and a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from Mount Mary College.

 

Professor Jessica Klaus of Alliance, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as clinical coordinator and assistant professor of physician assistant studies. She works as a physician assistant at Alliance Community Hospital. Klaus earned a Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Mount Union, Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from Youngstown State University and Associate of Science degree in biological sciences from Roane State Community College.

 

Professor Roger Kunes of Hartville, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as assistant professor of physician assistant studies. He works as a physician assistant at the Emergency Department at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio. He earned a Master of Medical Science degree in medical science from Emory University School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science degree in sports medicine from Marietta College.

 

Dr. Jennifer Leung of Columbus, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as visiting professor of economics, accounting and business administration. She previously worked at The Ohio State University within the Department of Agriculture, Environmental and Development Economics. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree at The Ohio State University in agricultural, environmental and development economics, a Master of Science in agricultural, environmental, and development economics from The Ohio State University, a Master of Science degree in economics from California State Polytechnic University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration concentrating in finance from University of Southern California.

 

Professor Holly Lucas of Alliance, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as visiting assistant professor of economics, accounting and business administration. She is the founder of The Office of Holly N. Lucas, LLC in Alliance, Ohio, which focuses on elder law, long-term care practice and life care planning for seniors. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from Capital University Law School and a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.

 

Professor William Schweizer of Canton, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as visiting assistant professor of economics, accounting and business administration. He is the president and CEO of Employer HCS LLC. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Akron and a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from Saint Louis University.

 

Dr. Matthew Volansky of Avon Lake, Ohio, will join the Department of Physical Therapy as assistant professor of physical therapy. Prior to Mount Union, he was the director of operations for Infinity Home Health Services. He earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northeastern University, Master of Business Administration degree in healthcare from Baldwin-Wallace College and a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy from the University of Toledo.

 

Melissa Mahnke of North Royalton, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as head volleyball coach. She has been an assistant coach with the Purple Raiders volleyball program for the past five years. In 2009, she played volleyball for Mount Union and led the Purple Raiders to their first-ever NCAA tournament bid. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the University of Mount Union and Master’s degree in sports psychology from California University of Pennsylvania.

 

Carter Poe of Chesterland, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as head men’s soccer coach. He has spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach to the Purple Raiders and during his junior and senior years at NCCA Division I Duquesne University, he was team captain for the men’s soccer team. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Duquesne University and is a second year student in Mount Union’s MAEL program.
