Mount Union Welcomes New Faculty Members

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The University of Mount Union has added nine new faculty members to its ranks.

Lauren Brickwood of Minerva, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as assistant professor and clinical coordinator of physician assistant studies. She works at Stark County Emergency Physicians and Aultworks Occupational Medicine as a physician’s assistant. She received a Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Mount Union and a Bachelor of Arts degree in zoology from Miami University. She is also certified in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support by the American Heart Association.  
Dr. Otis French of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, will join the Department of Music as the director of bands. Before joining the Mount Union faculty, French worked as the director of bands and associate professor of music at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. He earned a Doctor of Music degree in conducting from the University of Maryland, a Master of Music degree in conducting from Indiana University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in music and business administration from Saint Leo College and an Army Band Officer certification from the Navy School of Music.  
Dr. Yan (Steve) Liu of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will join the Department of Engineering as assistant professor of civil engineering. Before coming to Mount Union, Liu worked at Michael Baker Jr., Inc. as a civil engineer. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in civil engineering from Case Western Reserve University and Master and Bachelor of Science degrees from Tongji University in Shanghai, China.  
Dr. Brandon Mitchell of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, will join the Department of Physics as assistant professor of physics and anatomy. Prior to coming to Mount Union, he worked as president of the Physics Graduate Student Association. He received Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Arts degrees in physics from Lehigh University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in adolescence education from SUNY Fredonia.  
RuthAnn Rinto of Winona, Ohio, will join the Department of Education as field placement coordinator. She previously worked as field experience supervisor at Mount Union. Prior to working at Mount Union, she was superintendent of United Local Schools until 2012. She earned Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in marketing education from Bowling Green State University.  
Dr. Jenny Rosenberg of Kent, Ohio, will join the Department of Communications as assistant professor of communication. Before joining the Mount Union faculty, she worked as an assistant to the coordinator of doctoral education and interdisciplinary research at Kent State University. She earned Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Arts degrees in communication studies from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Arts with honors in communication studies from the University of Iowa.  
Dr. Megan Salvatore of Medina, Ohio, will join the Mount Union faculty as director of clinical education for physical therapy. She previously worked as a part-time physical therapist at Kingston of Ashland. She earned Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in physical therapy from Wheeling Jesuit University.  
Sonia Wehrlin of Akron, Ohio, will join Mount Union faculty as instructor of athletic training. Prior to joining the Mount Union faculty, she worked as a part-time faculty instructor at the University of Akron and athletic trainer/wellness director at Summa Health Systems Sports Health. She received Master of Arts degrees in physical education teacher education and athletic training and a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training, all from Kent State University.
