Mount Union Welcomes New Faculty Members to Campus

Mount Union College welcomes the addition of six new faculty members to the Mount Union community.
Morgan Cooper of Winterville, NC will join the Mount Union faculty as instructor in the Department of Human Performance and Sport Business and certified athletic trainer. Prior to joining the College, Cooper was the associate head athletic trainer and lecturer at East Carolina University and the general manager of the Gatorade Summer Camp Program in Greenville, NC. She earned a bachelor of science degree in athletic training from Mount Union in 2003 and a master of arts degree in exercise physiology from Kent State University in 2005.
Melissa Askren Edgehouse of Bowling Green, OH has been selected to join the Department of Education as assistant professor. Before joining the faculty of Mount Union, Edgehouse was a school improvement consultant for Lucas County Education Service Center in Toledo and an adjunct instructor at Bowling Green State University. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Mount Union in 1999, a master of education in administration and supervision degree from Ashland University in 2003 and a doctor of education in educational administration and leadership studies from Bowling Green State University in 2008.
Bob Ekey of Fredericksburg, VA has been selected to join the Department of Physics and Astronomy as assistant professor. Prior to joining the faculty and Mount Union, he was assistant professor of physics at the University of Mary Washington. He earned a bachelor of science degree in physics from Dickinson College in 1999, and both master’s and doctoral degrees in physics from Bryn Mawr College.
Betsy Ekey of Fredericksburg, VA has been named assistant professor of Mount Union’s graduate program in physician assistant studies. Before joining the faculty at the College, she was a physician assistant at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. She earned a bachelor of medical science degree in 1999 and a master of physician assistant studies degree in 2007 from Alderson-Broaddus College.
Kevin Meyer of Columbus, OH has been selected as assistant professor of psychology. Prior to joining the Mount Union faculty, Meyer was an adjunct faculty member at Capital University and a lecturer at The Ohio State University. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology, a master of science degree in human development and family science: early childhood development and a doctoral degree in human development and family science: marriage and family therapy from The Ohio State University.
Rachel Wannarka of State College, PA has been selected to join the Mount Union faculty as assistant professor of education. Prior to joining the College, she was a research assistant at Pennsylvania State University. Wannarka earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Macalester College in 1999 and a doctoral degree in special education from Pennsylvania State University in 2009.
