MOUNT UNION WIND SYMPHONY TO PRESENT SPRING CONCERT

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Mount Union College Department of Music will present the Wind Symphony in a spring concert Friday, April 20 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

Under the direction of Tim DeStefano, assistant professor of music, the concert will open with Barnum and Bailey's Favorite March, a piece by Karl L. King, which will be followed by G. Rossini/Cailliet's Italian In Algiers Overture. Featured during this piece will be freshman Kristen Dobish of New Wilmington, PA on oboe; sophomore Janet August of Greentown on flute; and sophomore Nikki Wykle of Sebring on trumpet.

Brianne Kagarise, a junior from Westerville, will be featured on clarinet as the Wind Symphony performs Festive Overture Opus 96 by D. Shostakovich and Kathleen DeStefano, a junior from Carrollton will perform a solo during Rex Mitchell's Song of the City.

Playing the English horn, Dobish also will be featured during The Hounds of Spring by Alfred Reed, along with senior Ryan Bell of Minerva on french horn and freshman Myra Francis of Alliance on oboe.

The Wind Symphony will conclude with a piece by Henry Fillmore entitled Rolling Thunder March.

The performance is free and open to the public. Presser Recital Hall is located in the Cope Music building on the corner of Union Avenue and Simpson Street.
