Multimedia Display Aimed to Raise Awareness of Forms of Oppression
January 31, 2005
Mount Union College students had the opportunity to experience the 'Tunnel of Oppression,' a multimedia display sponsored by the Office of Residence Life designed to raise awareness and stimulate reflection about different forms of oppression and their affects on society.
The 'Tunnel' explored issues related to race, sexual orientation, homelessness, disabilities, body image and domestic violence. The event was planned, researched and coordinated by students who are Program Administrators and Community Educators.
Following the displays on various forms of oppression, a section called the 'Room of Enlightenment' highlighted ways that students can get involved with the various issues presented and find assistance or resources to deal with these issues. This section was also designed to offer expressions of hope and celebration.
