I believe in involving the students in the process of learning, and allowing them to participate in the instruction process for their peers. My favorite part of the job is seeing the creative process of working on music throughout the semester, and seeing it improve.

Welcome to the Department of Music at the University of Mount Union. We are delighted to offer vital instruction and essential experiences for future professional musicians. Our highly qualified faculty guide students through degree programs for those who anticipate careers in music and also provide instruction in music theory, music appreciation, performance and music history for major and non-majors alike. Our students can choose the Bachelor of Arts degree in music (a liberal arts degree), a Bachelor of Music degree in music education (a professional course of study leading to state license) or Bachelor of Music degree in performance (a performance-oriented degree).

The University of Mount Union Department of Music has been an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music since 1935. Our curriculum has been developed based on the rigorous guidelines of this accrediting body, and we are proud to produce exceptional graduates who have achieved these high standards. We also offer competitive scholarship awards to qualified students who have been admitted to the University.

We are excited to include the Giese Center for the Performing Arts as one of our many venues for our engaging cultural events that showcase our talented faculty, guest artists and students in the visual and performing arts. I invite you to browse our website to learn more about our curriculum, faculty, facilities, alumni and fine arts events. Come and visit us often. We look forward to talking with you about our exceptional music program!
