The community feeling of all the students, professors, staff and administrators definitely make Mount Union unique. I love the feeling of being able to talk to anyone on campus and have them recognize me. It’s very personal and makes me feel right at home.
Music
With more than 25 performance groups on campus, Mount Union offers a robust schedule of recitals and concerts that highlights the talents of our students, in addition to an array of performances held each year that feature our talented and actively-performing faculty as well as guest musicians. The public is welcome at all musical performances.
Some of these public performances are the result of a strong partnership between the musical communities of Mount Union and the City of Alliance. The two work cooperatively to ensure the success of both the Alliance Symphony and Mount Union/Alliance Chorale. In addition, the University and Alliance Symphony Orchestra annually present a concerto and aria competition called Solo con Tutti.
The University also offers lessons and programming for young musicians in the area through its preparatory division, and is home to the national Kindermusik effort, a program for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and young children that seeks to create a life-long love of music.
