I love that I have the opportunity to have individualized and personal attention due to Mount Union’s small class sizes.

Music Education – Message from the Chair

The music education major at the University of Mount Union is perfect for students who enjoy learning, practicing and performing on multiple instruments as well as performing in various ensembles.

The CAEP accredited music education curriculum is focused on developing skills in musicianship and performance; conducting and rehearsing small and large vocal, instrumental and mixed ensembles; and teaching general music classes. Students are able to earn their multiage licensure for pre-K through grade 12 in conjunction with classes taken in Mount's Department of Education.

Our music education major is rigorous but rewarding for students who can quickly learn how to multitask. Our students write and implement music lesson plans in classrooms on campus and in the community. They learn effective classroom management techniques, educational theory and methodology, technology resources, resume preparation and interview techniques. These are among the professional skills that equip our exceptional graduates to meet the changing needs of 21st century music educators.
