Mount Union College’s Make a Difference Day programming was recognized as a semi-finalist by Make a Difference Day Ohio, a state competition to honor schools for their efforts with Make a Difference Day projects. In 2007, Mount Union College students participated in service-learning and community service projects in the Alliance community and surrounding area from October 22-27 in honor of Make a Difference Day.

What started out as an honors project for organic chemistry turned into a paper that was recently accepted into the Journal of Chemical Education (JCE).

Over 350 people in Stark County are homeless and about 12 million American adults have been literally homeless at one point in their lives. Mount Union College tried to do their part to promote homelessness awareness with their “Homeless in the Quad” event, organized by JANUS.

The Mount Union Handbell Choir will be performing a spring concert in Presser Recital Hall of Cope Music Hall on Wednesday, April 23 at 8 p.m.

The Mount Union College Department of Music will present a spring concert featuring the Concert Band under the direction of Jonathan E. Willis, director of bands on Friday, April 18 at 8 p.m. in the Alliance High School Auditorium.

The Mount Union College Choir, directed by Dr. Scott Dorsey, professor of music, will present a spring concert on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

“It is hard to tell if money is the factor that drives a candidate to victory, however, it is safe to assume that it plays a very important role,” said Dr. William E Cunion, assistant professor of political science and chair of the Department of Political Science at Mount Union College.

Mount Union College will be holding a woodwind ensemble concert on Tuesday, April 22 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

The John T. Huston-Dr. John D. Brumbaugh Nature Center of Mount Union College will be holding a Beekepper’s Panel Discussion on Sunday, April 20 at 2p.m.

The Mount Union College Religious Life Council will be holding Beyond the Influence Friday, April 18 at 10 p.m. in the Campus Grounds of the Hoover-Price Campus Center.

Mount Union College will hold a Musical Theatre workshop on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall, located within Cope Music Hall on the corner of Vincent Blvd. and Union Ave.

The John T. Huston-Dr. John D. Brumbaugh Nature Center of Mount Union College will be holding a program on frogs on Sunday, April 20 at 7p.m.

The Mount Union College Society of Physics Students will hold the last observing night of the semester on Friday, April 18 from 8:30-10:30 p.m.

]The Mount Union College Department of Music will present the Women’s Chorus and Jazz Ensemble Concert on Monday, April 14 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

The Mount Union Chapter of UMADD (University Mothers Against Drunk Driving) is sponsoring a month-long campaign to raise awareness regarding drunk driving. The April 2008 initiative, known as R.A.I.D. (Raiders Against Impaired Driving) Month, has two primary components.

Dr. Robert S. Kunkel, Jr., long-time member of the Board of Trustees of Mount Union College, was inducted into the 2008 Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC) Hall of Excellence at its Evening of Excellence held Wednesday, April 9 at Columbus Renaissance Hotel.
