Mount Union College, in conjunction with Girl Scouts of America, the YWCA and the Alliance Department of Parks and Recreation hosted the National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Sunday, April 6 in the College’s Timken Physical Education Building.

“The path to progress is through politics,” Mary Matalin, former assistant to President George W. Bush and counselor to Vice President Dick Cheney, said at the Schooler Lecture Tuesday, April 8 at Mount Union College.

Mount Union College’s Office of Service-Learning and Community Service and Janus Group, an organization on campus that promotes social justice and responsible citizenship, will host “Homeless in the Quad” on Monday, April 14 and Tuesday, April 15 in the campus quad. The goal of the event is to educate members of the College community about homelessness.

A total of 50 teams helped to raise nearly $35,000 for cancer research at the Alliance Relay For Life April 4 and 5 at Peterson Field House.

With the presidential election still very much undecided, Dr. William E. Cunion, assistant professor of political science and chair of the Department of Political Science at Mount Union College, will discuss how much this election is costing as the featured speaker for the next session of LINC, the college-community luncheon series on Tuesday, April 15 at noon in the East Room of the Hoover-Price Campus Center.

Tau Pi Phi, the business honorary fraternity, at Mount Union College participated in a Harvard Business School type case competition at Capital University.

“One cruel irony of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is you watch your self do crazy things, but are incapable of stopping yourself,” Jeff Bell said about his experience living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) at the Mental Health Awareness Talk Wednesday, April 21 in the Hoover-Price Campus Center.

The annual Spring concert of the Mount Union Alliance Chorale will again be under the direction of Professor John Roberts of the Mount Union faculty, and will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 13 at the First Christian Church, 1141 W. Beech in Alliance.

Mount Union College senior Michael Vince of Wintersville will be performing a tenor recital on Sunday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

More than 50 teams are expected to participate in this year’s Alliance Area Relay for Life, to be held in the Peterson Field House of Mount Union College on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5.
