Shannon Thouvenin, a music performance major of Massillon, will perform a junior trumpet recital on Sunday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall at Mount Union College.

The Mount Union College Woodwind ensembles, under the direction of music faculty member Betty Shultz, will perform a concert on Wednesday, April 22 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

Praise God in the Quad will be held Wednesday, April 22 from 3-8 p.m. in Campus Grounds of the Hoover-Price Campus Center due to inclement weather. This annual event, organized by Campus Crusade for Christ, is designed to bring people together for food, fun, fellowship and service.

While tensions over the “Tibet Question” (the political status of Tibet) are escalating every day, Dr. Melvyn Goldstein presented a balanced view of the conflict and a proposal for the future during a lecture given April 13 at Mount Union College.

Dr. Beth Canfield-Simbro, assistant professor of human performance and sport business and co-director of the honors program, has been selected as one of the Honorable Mention recipients of the 2009 David Hoch Memorial Award for Excellence in Service by Ohio Campus Compact.

The Alliance Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Rebecca Stinson, lecturer of music at Mount Union College, will present a concert of music based on an American theme on Sunday, April 19 at 3 p.m. in the Alliance High School Auditorium.

Allyson M. Oyster, a junior music performance major of Alliance with a concentration in collaborative piano, will perform a piano recital on Monday, April 20 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall at Mount Union College.

The Mount Union College Choir, directed by Dr. Scott Dorsey, professor of music, will present a spring concert on Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 24 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

Mount Union College will host its next Continued Learning Session featuring researcher Paul Rozich on UFOs, Bigfoot, Crop Circles and Alternate Realities on Tuesday, April 21 at 10 a.m. in Campus Grounds of the Hoover-Price Campus Center (HPCC).

The Mount Union Handbell Choir will be performing a concert in Presser Recital Hall of Cope Music Hall on Wednesday, April 15 at 8 p.m.

Dr. Jamie Capuzza, professor of communication and chair of the Department of Communication, will present “Global Advances in Women’s Rights” at the LINC Community Luncheon to be held Tuesday, April 21 at noon in the East Room of the Hoover-Price Campus Center. This is the final session of the LINC series for the 2008-2009 academic year

The Vocal Literature class will present the evolution of Art Song Tuesday, April 21 at 5 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall at Mount Union College. Seniors Maria Fesz and Abi Sevcik and juniors Andrew Potts and Shannon Thouvenin, under the direction of instructor Katherine Gold, will be performing.

Mount Union College’s two-person team placed first at the Tau Pi Phi Case Competition held at Capital University March 28-29.

The Mount Union College Fire-Engine Choir will perform Tuesday, April 14 at 3 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall. The Choir is under the direction of Dr. Scott Dorsey, professor of music.

Andrea Cooper will present Kristin's Story; A story of Acquaintance Rape and Depression on April 22 at 8 p.m. in the Mount Union Theatre at Mount Union College
