I chose to major in nursing because it is a hands-on major that requires lifelong learning. Plus, the opportunity to make a huge impact in someone's life is exciting and meaningful.
Nursing Facilities and Equipment
The nursing program will be housed in Gallaher Hall, our new state-of-the-art health and medical sciences facility. The new building will include space for two nursing skills labs equipped with up-to-date equipment, modern classrooms, simulated intensive care unit, control room and exam prep room.
The skills labs will include six beds, each with a hospital-like wall unit, interactive mannequins, IV pumps and other technology and equipment which will enable students to develop and master the nursing skillset required for quality patient care. The intensive care unit will include video equipment, monitors and a simulation mannequin that is monitored by faculty in the control room. Students will also have access to an electronic medical records system, allowing them to learn how to store and effectively read a patient’s comprehensive medical history. In addition, the classrooms will be designed to provide network ports for nursing degree student computer connections, an AV console and display screens.
