The University of Mount Union offers many opportunities for students who love orchestral music. String students perform with both large and small ensembles including the Alliance Symphony Orchestra, the Repertory Strings Chamber Orchestra, and a variety of chamber ensembles. Winds, brass and percussion players can also audition to be a part of the orchestral ensembles. Mount Union students are encouraged to participate in orchestra ensembles even if they are not a music major or minor. Mount Union offers generous scholarships for music majors and non-music music majors alike; students don’t need to major in music to receive one of our many music scholarships. (For more information or to register for a scholarship audition, go to www.mountunion.edu/vpa-auditions)
The best way to experience the orchestral program at Mount Union is to schedule a visit to our lovely campus, bring your instrument, and sit in on a class, a lesson or a rehearsal. The orchestra rehearses Thursday evenings from 7-9:15 p.m. Please contact me if you are an orchestral player interested in a campus visit. If you have any questions about the Department of Music or the orchestral program at Mount Union, I would love to hear from you!
I look forward to hearing you play!
