Petar Jankovic to Present Guitar Recital at Mount Union College

Petar Jankovic will present a guitar recital on Thursday, September 23 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.
Jankovic began as a guitar student in his native Yugoslavia and has gone on to win international acclaim. He received the bronze medal in 1998 at the H.R. H. Princess Cristine 13th International Guitar Competition in Madrid, Spain. Also in 1998, he won first prize at the First Annual Competition in Performance of Hispano-American music in Bloomington, IN. He won the bronze medal at the M.M. Ponce International guitar competition. In 1997, he won the Graduate Top Strings Award at the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale, making him the first guitarist to win this award.
Jankovic received a degree in classical guitar from the Music Academy of Belgrade. He holds a Master of Arts degree and an Artist Diploma Degree from the Indiana University School of Music and is presently a faculty member there. He is also a member of the faculty at the University of Indianapolis and Franklin College.
