I applied to 10 PA programs and visited several of the schools. It was evident from the interview process at Mount Union that I wasn’t going to be a number, but an individual in the program with the opportunity to have individualized attention if needed. The facilities were among the best that I had seen.

Physician Assistant Careers

Physician assistants have the credentials to practice medicine with physician supervision. PAs are equipped to elicit medical histories, conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret medical laboratory tests, counsel on preventive health care, assist in surgery and write prescriptions. According to the American Academy of Physician Assistants, “A PA’s practice may also include education, research and administration services.”

Physician assistants may work in the following settings:

  • Hospitals
  • Clinics
  • Private practice offices
  • Surgical settings
  • Emergency rooms
  • Federal prison health clinics
