Pianist Polina Bespalko to Perform at Mount Union College on September 14

The Mount Union College Department of Music will present guest pianist Polina Bespalko on Monday, September 14 in Presser Recital Hall at 8 p.m.
Beginning her performance career at the age of 8, Bespalko regularly made appearances in the most prestigious venues in Russia. She made her American debut in 1998 in Cincinnati and returned two years later to perform for the 90th anniversary of Matinee Musicale. In 2002, Bespalko gave two performances at the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
Immediately following her success as a medalist in the 2005 World Piano Competition in Cincinnati, Bespalko went on to win the gold medal in the Rachmaninoff Concerto Competition in Sicily.
Bespalko earned a master’s degree from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and an artist diploma from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. She currently serves as a piano faculty member at Xavier University in Cincinnati.
The recital will include works by Haydn, Schubert, Tchaikovsky as well as transcriptions of Bach.
