Piano Keys Recital to be Held March 18

March 14, 2014

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The University of Mount Union Department of Music will present a Piano Keys Recital featuring the students of Dr. Maira Liliestedt at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18 in Presser Recital Hall.

Student participants include pre-college students Olivia Connors, Alex Drewes and freshman Benjamin Gravlee of Alliance, OH; freshman music and religious studies major Mikayla Kovacik of Jewett, OH; senior music education major Demi Lohr of Ravenna, OH; sophomore music performance and French major Paige Morris of Maximo, OH and junior accounting and music major Chie Nishikawa of Osaka, Japan. The recital will include works by Christopher Norton, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Sergei Prokofiev, Frederic Chopin, Johann Sebastian Bach, Dmitri Kabalevsky and Domenico Scarlatti.

This event is the culminating studio piano recital of each semester for the piano students and presents some of the high points of the piano repertory, including the sparkling Scarlatti sonatas, excerpts from Beethoven's piano sonatas, known as "the New Testament of the pianist," and the first of the epic Chopin Ballades.

Presser Recital Hall is located in Cope Music Hall on the corner of Simpson Street and Union Avenue. Due to ongoing construction at the site of the new Performing Arts Complex, no on-site parking is available behind the building. Alternate parking is available on Simpson and Vincent Streets and in the Eells Art Center parking lot, as well as in other campus parking lots.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the University of Mount Union’s Department of Music at (330) 823-2180.
