Praise God in the Quad to be held April 22

April 22, 2009

Praise God in the QuadPraise God in the Quad will be held Wednesday, April 22 from 3-8 p.m. in Campus Grounds of the Hoover-Price Campus Center due to inclement weather. This annual event, organized by Campus Crusade for Christ, is designed to bring people together for food, fun, fellowship and service.

The featured speakers will be Vic Cales and Richard Bartel of the Cleveland Browns.  Cales will speak at 5:15 p.m. followed by Bartel. In between, there will be an intermission during which more prizes will be awarded.

Participants will also have the opportunity to join in the Living Proof Tie Blanket Project, which will provide blankets for children in Chacocente, Nicaragua. The goal for this project, which is supported by the Purple Raider Empowerment Project (PREP), is to tie 200 blankets by the end of the event. These orange and white blankets, which read “Jesus loves me” in Spanish and English, will be distributed to families living in the city landfill in Chacocente who are literally forced to cover themselves with trash at night because they do not have blankets. The blankets will be distributed by Out of the Dump. Visit http://www.outofthedump.org/ for more information on this organization.

This event is free and open to the public. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held in Campus Grounds of the Hoover-Price Campus Center.
