I chose to attend Mount Union because I believed, and still do, that Mount Union would go the furthest in helping me achieve my goals.
Pre-Medicine and Pre-Health Clubs and Hands-On Learning
Students who choose to get involved in the pre-medicine and pre-health program at Mount Union have ample opportunities to get “real-world” experience outside of the classroom. Getting involved in these experiential and clinical field opportunities will prepare you for a future career as a doctor, dentist, pharmacist, optometrist, physical therapist, physician assistant, veterinarian, podiatrist or chiropractor, among other health-related positions.
Pre-Health Professions Club is a student-led organization on Mount Union’s campus. Throughout the school year, the club will have several activities to help prepare its members for a career in the health related fields. These include bringing in outside speakers, performing workshops and arranging outreach experiences. Recent speakers include admissions representatives from several medical schools, former Mount Union students who are now in a health-related graduate or professional program and current healthcare practitioners.
Experiential learning opportunities will give you many chances to put classroom knowledge to work. These opportunities include:
- Independent research
- Research with faculty or student peers
- Laboratory experience
- Federally-funded summer medical and dental program
- Volunteering and shadowing opportunities with local doctors and hospitals
