Pridonoff Duo Masterclass and Piano Concert to be Held at Mount Union College
February 6, 2008
The Pridonoff Duo will be teaching a piano masterclass and performing a duo piano concert at Mount Union College on Friday, February 22.
The masterclass will be held from 4-6 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall during which the Pridonoffs will publicly teach four Mount Union students in a master class setting that is open to the public. The Pridonoffs will then perform a duo piano concert at 8 p.m., also in Presser Hall.
The concert will include Francis Poulenc’s Sonate; Maurice Ravel’s La Valse; Franz Liszt’s Les Preludes and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Suite No. 2, Op. 17.
Elisabeth and Eugene Pridonoff have been performing as a duo for over 25 years, making their formal debut with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Paul Nadler in 1982. They have been compared to the great husband-wife piano duos of Josef and Rosina Lhevinne and Vronsky and Babin and made successful debuts in New York’s Tully Hall and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in 1986.
The Duo has performed extensively throughout the United States and abroad. In Bermuda, they gave the inaugural Duo Piano recital on that island to a capacity crowd. For the past decade, they have made regular visits to Asia including residencies and performances in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan.
The Pridonoffs serve as duo-in-residence and professors of piano at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. Their current and former students hold positions in music schools and universities throughout the world and have earned numerous national and international awards.
The masterclass and recital are free and open to the public. Presser Recital Hall is located on Mount Union’s campus in Cope music building. For more information on these events, contact the Department of Music at (330) 823-2180.
