Program Director’s Welcome
Thank you for your interest in the Master of Arts in Educational Leadership (MAEL) degree at the University of Mount Union. A blended program in nature, our two-year accredited MAEL degree enables you to complete the majority of coursework online during the regular academic year but also visit our beautiful and residential campus in the summer.
The Master of Arts in Educational Leadership curriculum is designed to prepare professionals for success in rapidly changing and challenging environments and also offers the preparation you’ll need to earn the Ohio Principal's License (PreK-6, 4-9 and 5-12) that we are approved to offer. The major curricular components of the program include:
- Leadership and organizational change
- Curriculum development
- Ethical and moral leadership
- Assessment, evaluation and research for accountability
- Technology
- School culture and community/ stakeholder partnerships
- Supervision and professional development
- Advanced instructional design and delivery
Much of this learning will take place in the fall and spring through a series of online courses that offers the convenience you need as well as the quality you deserve. To further enhance your experience, you’ll benefit from a high-level of personal interaction during a seven-day on-campus Summer Residency Semester (SRS) where you’ll discuss current issues and initiatives in education with renowned experts in the field.
As a candidate in the program, you will also have the chance to implement leadership skills and make a dynamic impact through a year-long internship.
