With respect to interesting curricula, in addition to integrating service-learning projects into my own courses, I served on the University’s General Education Task Force since its inception and continue to serve as a member of the Integrative Core Advisory Board.

Psychology Careers

As a psychologist, your skills will be in demand. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment in this social science field will grow over the next decade because of increased need for psychological services in schools, hospitals, social service agencies, mental health centers, substance abuse treatment clinics, consulting firms and private companies.

According to the BLS, growth in the specialty of industrial-organizational psychology will be especially swift with a predicted growth rate of 53% (about 900 new jobs) through 2022. Organizations will place an increased demand on these individuals as they seek to select and retain employees, increase productivity and improve office morale.

Teaching and/or research positions require professional preparation at most colleges and universities, as does the practice of clinical and counseling psychology. If you want to be a professional psychologist, you’ll need to complete two to five years of graduate study after obtaining a bachelor's degree in psychology.

Students who intend to continue the study of psychology should consult their academic advisors early in their undergraduate years to assure proper preparation for graduate school.
