RAIDERS COMPETE IN CACTUS JAM PHOENIX HOOPS CLASSIC

June 02, 2010

Phoenix, Arizona -- More than 50 alumni, parents, friends, team members and coaches gathered at the Stockyards in Phoenix to meet Mount Union's men's basketball team between the holidays.

The men's basketball team was in town to participate in the Cactus Jam Phoenix Hoops Classic, a tournament of top Division III teams throughout the country. The Raiders were competitive finishing 1-2 for the tournament. The win was over Manhattanville (NY) 75-71. The losses were to two New Jersey teams, Ramapo 75-61 and William Paterson 66-60. The latter was the pre-season choice to win the national championship.

An anonymous donor graciously provided the team and guests an evening to remember on Tuesday, December 26 by hosting a reception and dinner as a means of welcoming the team and providing a place for Purple Raider fans to gather.

Alumna Melissa Crytzer Fry, who formerly served as assistant director of public relations at the College, provided the digital photography.
