Ralph Regula Celebration of Life to be Held August 12

Ralph RegulaALLIANCE, Ohio – The life and legacy of the late Ralph Regula, retired United States Congressman, will be celebrated on the campus of the University of Mount Union on Saturday, August 12, from 2 - 4 p.m.

Regula, who passed away on July 19 at age 92, served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1973-2008 and was a trustee emeritus of Mount Union, of which he was a 1948 graduate.  

The event will be hosted by Mount Union’s Ralph and Mary Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement. The Regula Center has been a staple on Mount Union’s campus since its creation, which came as a result of Regula’s vision and dedication to education. 

Dr. Dick Merriman, president of Mount Union, government officials and members of the Regula family will share about the life of Regula. 

The event will take place at the Riggs Memorial Plaza at Mount Union, located south of the Campus Lakes. The event will be moved to the Peterson Field House at Mount Union in the case of inclement weather. Attendees are asked to enter campus at the main entrance gates at Clark Avenue right off of U.S. Route 62. Signage will direct visitors to appropriate parking locations and shuttle services will be available. 

Memorial gifts can be directed to alumni.mountunion.edu/donation. Donors should then select the option for the Regula Center. Checks should be made out to the University of Mount Union with Regula Memorial on the memo line. They can be mailed to the Regula Center at 1972 Clark Ave., Alliance, Ohio 44601. Contributions can also be made to St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Massillon, Ohio.
