Repertory Strings and Soloist to Perform

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union Repertory Strings Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Elaine Anderson, will present a program at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 20 in the Myers Sanctuary of Dewald Chapel.
The program will feature senior flute performance major Brianna Searing of Fort Wayne, Indiana performing Johann Sebastian Bach’s Orchestral Suite in B minor. Other pieces on the program include “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” by Mozart, Beethoven’s “String Quartet in F Major” and Gustav Holst’s “St. Paul’s Suite for String Orchestra.”
Violinists include junior integrated media major Sarah Filipovich of Boardman, Ohio; sophomore medical lab sciences major Taylor Basnett of Broadview Heights, Ohio; junior neuroscience major Erin Bell of Mount Vernon, Ohio; freshman Marcus Kinnard of Alliance, Ohio; junior music major Claire Gliozzi of Lakewood, Ohio; senior sports business major Malcolm Leake of Fremont, Ohio and sophomore biology major Leandra Reed of Saint Clairsville, Ohio. Other violinists include Bohdan Subchak, lecturer of violin; Dr. Susan Haddox, associate professor of philosophy and religious studies and Brittany and Brook Quales who are private students of Subchak.
The low strings include violists Hailey Hoyat of Cleveland, Ohio; Eric Benjamin, lecturer of music and Cathy Hill of the Alliance community. Cellists include freshman Katelyn Gonczy of Strongsville, Ohio; sophomore Nathaniel Conkle of Dover, Ohio; freshman Joan Hoile of Lakewood, Ohio and Brianna Searing. Bassists include sophomore marketing major Adam Infantino of Webster, New York and University of Mount Union alumni member Lindsey Nicholson-Moreland. Nancy Howenstine, lecturer of piano, will play the keyboard.
The Repertory Strings Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1998 by, and is currently under the direction of Anderson, professor of music at Mount Union. She teaches cello, chamber music, theory and orchestral literature.
Anderson earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in cello performance from the University of Alabama and a Master of Music degree in performance and theory from the Manhattan School. She also received a Bachelor of Music degree in string education from Concordia College. She has performed in master classes for Yo-Yo Ma and Carter Brey and has been a featured soloist with orchestras in Minnesota, Alabama, Ohio, North Carolina and the National Symphony of Bolivia.
