REVEREND DR. KENNETH CHALKER TO PRESENT BACCALEUREATE ADDRESS 2001

ALLIANCE, Ohio - A 1971 graduate of Mount Union College and a member of the College's Board of Trustees since 1992, Reverend Dr. Kenneth W. Chalker will present the Baccalaureate Address to this year's graduating class of 2001.

Chalker, former pastor of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church in Alliance, is currently serving as pastor of First United Methodist Church in Cleveland.

After earning his bachelor's degree from Mount Union, Chalker received his master of divinity degree from Duke University in 1974, and his D.Min. degree from Garrett-ETS at Northwestern University in 1982.

Throughout his career, he has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Greater Cleveland Interchurch Council, a member of the Downtown Clergy in Cleveland and conference secretary for the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church, among several other civic offices and activities.

He was named "One of Cleveland's Most Interesting Persons" by Cleveland Magazine in both 1988 and 1993 and while at Mount Union, received the honor of Outstanding Senior Man.
Chalker and his wife, Grace Bird Chalker, who is also a 1971 Mount Union graduate, reside in Westlake. They have two children, Laura, 25, and Wayne, 23.
