Richard K. Smucker to Present Smith Lecture at Mount Union College

Richard K. Smucker, president and co-chief executive officer of The J.M. Smucker Company, will present the Smith Lecture on Wednesday, March 28 at 11 a.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

Smucker is the great-grandson of Jerome Monroe Smucker, who founded the company bearing his name in Orrville, OH in 1897. The company, which makes jams, jellies, ice cream toppings, juices and other food products, still has headquarters located in Orrville.
Smucker graduated from Miami University of Ohio and received a master of business administration degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Before being named president of the company in 1987, he held various financial and operational positions with the Company, including treasurer, executive vice president and chief administrative officer.
The J.M. Smucker Company produces products under various icon brand names in over 20 plant locations, primarily in North America, and employs over 4,500 people.
In addition to serving on the Board at the company, Smucker is a director of the William Wrigley Jr. Company and The Sherwin-Williams Company; a trustee of the Cleveland Orchestra and Miami University of Ohio; and serves as an advisor to Buttonwood Capital Partners Board of Directors. He has also served on various charitable organizations.
