Would you like to become a Peer Tutor or Success Mentor for the Office of Academic Support? These are paid positions that can greatly enhance your ability to make a difference in your fellow peers academic success, while also providing you with numerous skills that can translate into your own personal and career ambitions.

In order to join our staff, applicants must meet all qualifications listed below:

  • Full-time, enrolled student at the University of Mount Union.
  • Eligible to work in the United States, and must have all tax forms completed with Mount Union’s Human Resources office (located in the lower level of Beeghly Hall; phone: 330-829-6560)
  • Eligible to receive either “Campus Employment” or “Federal Work Study” payment; check with the Office of Student Financial Services if you’re uncertain (located in the lower level of the Welcome Center; phone: 330-823-2674)
  • Earned either an “A” or “A-“ grade in the respective tutored course.
  • Ability to work a consistent, weekly schedule for the entire semester (requested exceptions may apply)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Adhere to all job responsibilities associated with this position.
  • Able to maintain the highest levels of academic integrity.

Required Steps for All Student Employee Applicants

1)    Meet all required qualifications 

2)    Complete the online applicationPlease note: Respective faculty members that you list on the application may be contacted to confirm your qualifications. 

3)    Have all employment paperwork submitted to the Office of Human Resources (located in the lower level of Beeghly Hall; phone: 330-829-6560) to confirm eligible employment.

In order to complete this process, you will need to bring:

 Document #1

 US Passport

 or

 Photo ID (Driver’s License, State ID, University ID, etc.)

 AND

 Document #2

(the Social Security Card or Birth Certificate MUST be originals, as mandated by Federal Law)

 Social Security Card (with signature)

 or

 Birth Certificate

You will be asked to complete the following forms:

  • Federal W-4
  • State IT-4
  • US Department of Justice Employment Eligibility Verification I-9

4)     Confirm work eligibility with the Office of Student Financial Services (located in the lower level of the Welcome Center; phone: 330-823-2674) and acquire a Work Authorization Form from that office.

5)     Attend an in-person job interview with the Office of Academic Support; which will include an overview of your availability to work on respective nights during the week.

6)     Receive notice of the hiring manager’s decision and finalize your work schedule for the semester.

7)     If hired, your Work Authorization Form will then be signed and submitted to the Office of Student Financial Services by a member of our staff.

8)     Complete all training sessions related to your new position.

9)     Sign a Confidentiality Form with the Office of Academic Support.

10)  Begin your new role and help your fellow students to the best of your ability and training!
