Casto received her bachelor's degree from Miami University and her master's degree from Duke University. She began her organ study with Foster Hotchkiss and Marvin Peterson, ministers of music at Riverside United Methodist Church in Columbus. While at Miami University, she studied with Dr. Eugene Hill, professor of organ. She served as organist of the Miami University Sesquicentennial Chapel from 1966 - 1968.

She has also served as pianist, choir director and organist at three small rural churches where her husband served as pastor in North Carolina. In 1975, she accepted a teaching position at Methodist Theological School. She became organist at Asbury United Methodist Church, a position she still holds, in addition to serving as director of music and children's choir director.

At the Methodist Theological School, Casto plays for three weekly chapel services, accompanies the Schola Cantorum, the seminary choir and also teaches organ. In 1990, in collaboration with Dr. Roy A. Reed, professor of worship and music, she established the seminary's Organist Training Program, a two year course to prepare students without a formal organ background to learn essential skills and repertoire that will serve the musical and worship needs of their congregations. The program culminates in the awarding of the Certificate in Organ Service Playing as Parish Ministry. Over 30 students have completed the program and are serving churches in Ohio, Michigan and Illinois.

Casto is a member of the American Guild of Organists and serves on the Executive Committee of the Columbus chapter. She is also a member of the Choristers Guild and the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts.

The Lenten Midweek Recitals are free and open to the public. W. Robert Morrison will present a Lenten Midweek Organ Recital on Wednesday, April 9 at noon in the Dewald Chapel.

The Dewald Chapel is located on the Mount Union College campus across from the football stadium on Aultman Avenue.
