Why did you choose to pursue your degree?
I chose to pursue Exercise Science because it is fascinating to learn about how the body works and responds to the stresses of exercise.  Exercising and staying healthy are very important to me and I would love to encourage others to engage in healthier behavior as well.

What types of jobs are available for students who share your major?

There are lots of different paths that Exercise Science majors can take. Some include: physical therapy, nutrition, exercise physiology and personal training.

How will you use your degree upon graduation?

I plan on going to graduate school to pursue sports nutrition.  I would love to work with athletes in order to help them improve their performances in ways such as altering their diets.

What activities are you involved in?
I am a member of Exercise Science Club and in charge of the GIFT program at the Alliance YMCA. I am also in Sophomore Service Honorary and Alpha Lambda Delta. This semester I will begin working to help provide exercise plans for seniors at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community.

What elements should a person possess in order to succeed in your major?
Someone wanting to succeed in this major should make sure that they enjoy living a healthy, active lifestyle.  They should also have a strong desire to help others become healthier.

What advice can you offer for someone who is considering having the same major as you?
Although the course load may at times seem rough, just keep pushing through it!  Also, keep the goal of wanting to help others in mind and it may make the tough times a little easier!
