My favorite hands-on experience in sport business so far has been working at the Sport Sales Workshop in Cleveland. I wasn’t a student participant, but instead a volunteer where I assisted with various tasks throughout the event. I am interested in event operations, so this was a great opportunity to get a feel for what that career might be like. I was also was very fortunate to meet many inspirational individuals within the sport business industry.

MY EXCEPTIONAL STORY

Home
I first learned about Mount Union from my neighbor who attended the school and absolutely loved it! After visiting many colleges and universities, I felt the most “at home” when I was on Mount Union’s campus. I also heard that the school had a fantastic sport business program.

Uniqueness
I love that Mount Union is a fairly small university. When I walk around campus, I am always able to say hi to friends or acquaintances. Mount Union also has a fantastic group of professors and faculty who are always friendly and willing to assist students whenever needed. It’s unique because it’s a small city in itself. The buildings are all fairly close to one another as well as the dorms and other facilities that students use on a daily basis. Plus, the environment around campus is just so comfortable.

Eat, study and relax
The Hoover-Price Campus Center (HPCC) is a great place for students to eat, study or just hang out. The McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex (The MAAC) has been recently renovated into an awesome recreation center, equipped with an amazing new field house. It’s a wonderful place to workout!

Finding a way to incorporate sports
I chose to major in sport business because from a young age I’ve been involved in numerous sports. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to continue playing sports forever, but I wanted to stay a part of the sports world as much as possible. I thought that a career in sport business would be a great way to fulfill this desire!

Ultimate career goal
I’m pretty open minded about a potential career in sport business, however I would love to work for a professional basketball team in its marketing and/or event operations department.
