Saul Williams

Spoken Word Artist

Saul Williams' love of language, which is rooted in his love of hip-hop, has come full circle as he now takes his lyricism back to its musical roots. His groundbreaking work as a writer and actor in the critically acclaimed film Slam placed him as a figurehead of the spoken word/slam poetry movement. To thousands of youth across America, he has redefined poetry as an accessible, living art form. He is the author of three collections of poetry, - said the shotgun to the head, She and The Seventh Octave. His poetry has been added into the curriculum at a number of universities and high schools across the country where he has been asked to recite his work, lecture, and/or teach workshops.
