Kirk Schuring to Speak on Constitution Day
September 13, 2011
State Representative Kirk Schuring from the 51st District will be the featured speaker at the University of Mount Union Monday, September 19 at 6 p.m. in the Alumni Room of the Hoover-Price Campus Center to celebrate national Constitution Day.
Schuring will present his views on the valuable lessons learned from the U.S. Constitution and he will also address current topics facing the state legislature. The presentation is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
The U.S. typically celebrates Constitution Day on September 17, to commemorate the day in 1787 when the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met to sign the document they created. With that day falling on a Saturday this year, educational institutions have moved their programming to a week day.
Schuring is a lifelong resident of Stark County and served in the Ohio Senate for two terms. He has authored several legislative initiatives related to health care, economic development and families that have passed into law.
