The community feeling of all the students, professors, staff and administrators definitely make Mount Union unique. I love the feeling of being able to talk to anyone on campus and have them recognize me. It’s very personal and makes me feel right at home.

MY EXCEPTIONAL STORY

Family Legacy
My parents went here and met while on campus, so inevitably I was raised hearing about Mount Union.

Attending Mount Union
Mount Union’s scholarship to me was very generous, and the constant upkeep of facilities and grounds here make me more comfortable day to day than another school could offer.

Meeting People
I love the people and how easy it is to get to know everyone on campus, including the professors and administrators.

Bracy Hall
If I could take a visiting student anywhere on campus, I would probably take them to Bracy Hall. Although I’ve only ever had one class there I absolutely love its design. The giant fish tank is awesome, and all of the displays are really interesting.

Community Feeling
The community feeling of all the students, professors, staff and administrators definitely make Mount Union unique. I love the feeling of being able to talk to anyone on campus and have them recognize me. It’s very personal and makes me feel right at home.

Teaching Music
I wanted to teach music ever since I was in the eighth grade. At Mount Union, I have the opportunity to focus on all areas of the field more than I could at other schools.

New Experiences
We got to write some pretty awesome music in my orchestration class. It was a totally new experience going into the music lab and trying out some incredible software and technology. My final project took hours but was tremendously rewarding.

Choral Conducting
My choral conducting course put me right in front of the Concert Choir to lead them in some beautiful music. Directing a choir is my absolute dream job and the class gave me the perfect experience to confirm that.

Professors as Mentors
Dr. Grant Cook, director of choral activities and associate professor of music, has really taught me a lot about what it means to be a great educator and how to create a positive academic atmosphere in the choral classroom. It is clear that he applies everything he teaches into his own life. Because of this incredible professionalism and intellect, he is more than just a professor, but a mentor and counselor as well.

Career Goal
My dream is to be the director and educator in front of a large choral ensemble someday, preferably at the high school or college level. I’m in love with choral music and thanks to my experience at Mount Union, I feel excited and ready to lead a positive but challenging academic learning environment for students to fall in love with choral music in the same way I did.
