Seven Mount Union Programs Ranked Best Value in Ohio by College Factual

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The University of Mount Union and its academic programs were once again highly ranked in a number of categories as part of College Factual’s 2018 rankings.

For specific academic programs, College Factual classifies programs into five categories: best value, more focused, highest paid graduates, top quality and popularity. 

Mount Union ranked number one in Ohio for best value in: biology, criminal justice, intervention specialist, health and physical education, Japanese, French and Spanish. 

A number of other Mount Union programs were also ranked highly both in Ohio, the Great Lakes region, and across the nation.

The accounting program ranked second in Ohio and ninth in the Great Lakes region while the criminal justice program was also ranked fourth in the Great Lakes region and eighth in the nation.

Mount Union’s Department of Education was ranked second in Ohio, sixth in the Great Lakes region and 18th  in the nation. The finance program ranked second in Ohio and sixth in the Great Lakes region and the psychology program was ranked sixth in Ohio and 12th in the Great Lakes region. The management program ranked 10th in Ohio and 32nd in the Great Lakes region.

The psychology program was ranked third in Ohio and seventh in the Great Lakes region. Mount Union’s Department of World Languages and Cultures was also ranked second in Ohio and seventh in the Great Lakes region.

College Factual also ranked numerous programs at Mount Union as more focused, or having a greater concentration of students in a particular major than other institutions.

The intervention specialist program was ranked 11th in Ohio and 23rd in the nation in this category, while its Department of English was ranked 16th in Ohio. The health and physical education programs were ranked first in Ohio and fourth in the Great Lakes region. Mount Union's marketing program was ranked #10 in Ohio and #25 in the Great Lakes region for more focused.

The public relations program was ranked seventh and the Department of World Languages and Cultures was ranked fifth for Ohio.

Several of Mount Union’s programs also earned high marks for the highest paid graduates. 

The criminal justice program ranked sixth in Ohio and 18th  in the Great Lakes region. The Department of Education was ranked 12th  in Ohio and intervention specialist program ranked fifth in Ohio and 17th in the Great Lakes region. The management and public relations programs were also cited among institutions with the highest paid graduates. 

For programs with high quality, Mount Union ranked in the top 10 in Ohio for criminal justice, education, health and physical education.

College Factual also listed three of Mount Union’s programs as most popular among institutions.

The computer science program ranked third in Ohio and ninth in the Great Lakes region. The health and physical education program was ranked ninth in Ohio and 34th in the Great Lakes region. Mount Union’s Department of Education was also cited among institutions with the most popular programs. 

Mount Union was also ranked number three in Ohio for College Factual’s Best Colleges for the Money ranking as an institution. The University was also ranked second in Ohio, sixth in the Great Lakes region, and 59th in the nation in College Factual’s Best Affordable Colleges and Universities for International Students listing.

Mount Union has also been ranked in among the top one percent in the nation for gender diversity; the University was ranked 14th of 2,692 institutions ranked. 

Along with being named in College Factual’s 2018 listing, the University of Mount Union holds numerous national rankings. The University has been included in Forbes’ 2017 America’s Best Colleges ranking, Washington Monthly’s “Best Bang for the Buck” listing and The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings. Mount Union has also been featured in the Princeton Review’s Guide to 361 Green Colleges for five consecutive years and has been named a top college in the Midwest region for 26 consecutive years by U.S. News and World Report.
