Shadowing Day To Be Held March 27

March 22, 2007

The NAVIGATORS after-school program of Alliance City Schools and the Mount Union College Office of Service-Learning and Community Service are teaming together to recruit African-American male career professionals to participate in a Shadowing Day on Tuesday, March 27 to bridge the focus of learning in the classroom and to aid in career development.

Students involved in this career day will be those African-American males who participate in the 99th Squadron Leadership Program at Alliance Middle School. Each student is matched up with professional African-American men in the Canton/Akron and Alliance region to shadow them for the entire day.

The opportunity to shadow an African-American professional will expose students to positive role models in the career world and provide them with an understanding of the relationship between higher education and professional careers.

NAVIGATORS is an after-school program that provides a variety of intervention and enrichment activities in a safe, enriching environment after school. A leadership program for high achieving African-American male students, the 99th Squadron is just one of the many components of the NAVIGATORS program.
