Shannon Thouvenin of Massillon to Perform Trumpet Recital April 19

Shannon Thouvenin, a music performance major of Massillon, will perform a junior trumpet recital on Sunday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall at Mount Union College.

A graduate of Perry High School, she is studying trumpet with Mount Union instructor R. Chris Hall. Thouvenin participates in marching band, wind ensemble, concert band, Alliance Symphony Orchestra, trumpet ensemble, horn choir and the jazz band and is also involved with the Canton Concert Band, Clinton Community Band, Alliance Pops Concerts and Alliance Big Band. In addition, she serves as treasurer of Mu Phi Epsilon, an honorary music fraternity, co-chair of the fundraising committee in the honorary band fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi, and is a member of the Ohio Collegiate Music Education and Alpha Lambda Delta. A French minor, she is also a member of the honorary language fraternity, Alpha Mu Gamma, and has been named to the Dean’s List four times.

The recital will include Allegro Moderato from Sonata by Halsey Stevens, Sonate by Jean Hubeau, Folksong by Bruce Broughton, Concerto for Trumpet and Strings in E flat major by Johann Baptist Georg Neruda and My Funny Valentine by Richard Rodgers.
