Courses Taught: Introduction to the PA Profession, Integrative Patient Management, Introduction to the Master’s Capstone and the Master’s Capstone

The PA Profession
I was a medical student who left med school after one year. I went to work in research and discovered  that I really wanted patient contact more than lab work, so I began to seek possibilities for returning to med school but came across the physician assistant profession instead. I also met a PA and fell in love with what I observed him doing. I wanted that job!

Proudest Accomplishments
My proudest professional accomplishments include any time I was able to make a patient feel better or come to understand more about their health situation. I loved it when I helped people achieve a new place for their health status. My other proud accomplishment is the development of the Mount Union PA Studies Program. I love to see our graduates excel in their chosen fields of practice, and I really love when our alums come back to help us educate the next generation of PAs.

Teaching Style
I love to teach through the use of case scenarios. Having students be able to manipulate medical principles via use of patient cases is wonderful in the development of critical thinking skills they will utilize in clinical practice.

Favorite Part of Job
I love watching the graduating cohort in their final year of the program. I love to see their development from “student” to practitioner.

Research Interests
Academic dishonesty in PA programs

Favorite Building
I like Bracy Hall because it is truly home away from home.
