I would advise them that Music Education is a very interesting and thorough major, but a lot of work is involved, so it must be their passion.  I would tell them to stay focused because it will definitely be worth it in the end.

Why did you choose to pursue your degree?
Music is my passion and it has always been a huge part of my life. I knew that I had to continue with it in some way in my future. I chose to be a teacher because I really want to help others gain a greater appreciation for music and inspire them to make it a part of their lives.

What types of jobs are available for students who share your major?
So many opportunities are available for music majors, from teaching students its fundamentals, to performing either as a soloist or ensemble member, to composing works.

How will you use your degree upon graduation?
I hope to teach general music education for elementary schools and to continue to share my love for music with other. Hopefully I can spark an interest in music within them.

In what activities are you involved?
The Mount Union Choir, Alpha Xi Delta, Mu Phi Epsilon, Alpha Lambda Delta, Campus Crusade for Christ, First Year in Honors, and playing piano for masses.

Elements a person should possess to succeed in your major?
First and foremost, a person must enjoy their love for music in order to share this passion with others.  Second, a person must work continuously to reach their goals by concentrating on them.  And last, but not least, a music major must be competent when working with others, helping them expand their minds in order to see the beauty of music.
