Smooth Jazz Artist David Benoit to Perform at Mount Union March 18

Five-time Grammy nominated pianist, composer, arranger and producer David Benoit will be perform a guest smooth jazz concert along with bassist David Hughes and drummer Jamey Tate on Thursday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Mount Union Theatre. The concert is presented by WRMU 91.1 FM, Mount Union’s radio station, which airs Benoit’s music along with other smooth jazz artists.
Benoit has celebrated over 30 years as a recording artist with the release of his newest album Heroes in May of 2009. He is well-known for his unique spins on classic songs by legendary pop, rock and jazz artists that inspired him from his childhood. Benoit’s songs chart his course from growing up in L.A.’s South Bay through his first professional gigs to the development of his career as a smooth jazz artist.
Since his career started in 1977, he has recorded dozens of solo performances, including the influential classics Freedom at Midnight and Every Step of the Way in the genre that later became known as ‘smooth jazz.’
