The community feeling of all the students, professors, staff and administrators definitely make Mount Union unique. I love the feeling of being able to talk to anyone on campus and have them recognize me. It’s very personal and makes me feel right at home.
Solo Con Tutti
The University of Mount Union and the Alliance Symphony Orchestra annually present Solo con Tutti, a concerto/aria competition in the fall. This year, the competition will be held on November 17, 2012.
Participants are required to perform one or more movements of a standard concerto, a vocal aria, a single movement work or a concert piece for which orchestral or wind ensemble accompaniments will be available. Each contestant also has to perform the solo part of his or her selection in its entirety.
Participants are able to compete in one of two competition categories – pre-college or University of Mount Union. One winner and honorable mention recipients will be selected in each of the competition categories from a panel of judges. Winners will play their repertoire selection with the Repertory Strings Orchestra, Alliance Symphony Orchestra or the University of Mount Union Wind Ensemble during the spring semester.
For more information, contact Dr. Maira Liliestedt at (330) 823-2195 or liliesmi@mountunion.edu. To apply, download the application. Applications are due by October 19, 2012.
