October 13, 2005
The harpsichord recital scheduled for Sunday, October 16 in the Presser Recital Hall of Mount Union College at 7:30 p.m. has been cancelled.
Michael Sponseller , a native of Alliance, is unable to make the return trip at this time and the conert will be rescheduled for a later date.
After making his debut at the Berliner Tage f'r Alte Musik in 1995, Sponseller appeared throughout Europe and North America as a soloist, conductor and chamber musician.
Sponseller studied and received his degrees at the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. He also received a Performance Certificate at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague.
His most recent performance was with the American Bach Soloists in San Francisco. This was recorded and is scheduled to be released in October 2005.
In 1999, Sponseller was appointed at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music and recently was appointed on staff at Boston University.
Sponseller began his harpsichord studies under the mentorship of Dr. Earl L. Russell, professor emeritus at Mount Union.
The harpsichord that will be used in the recital was built by Dr. Russell and is a gift to the College in his memory by his many friends.
