My favorite hands-on experience in sport business so far has been working at the Sport Sales Workshop in Cleveland. I wasn’t a student participant, but instead a volunteer where I assisted with various tasks throughout the event. I am interested in event operations, so this was a great opportunity to get a feel for what that career might be like. I was also was very fortunate to meet many inspirational individuals within the sport business industry.
Sport Business Careers
The sport industry is continually growing, and so are the number of individuals attracted to study and meaningful work in this expanding field. Students in Mount Union’s sport business program put theory into practice everyday, gaining hands-on knowledge in preparation for career success in a number of areas.
• Professional sport organizations
• Recreation
• Fitness clubs and YMCAs
• Event management and support
• National governing bodies
It is recommended that sport business students supplement the major by selecting either business administration or media studies as their minor, depending on individual interest or career goals. And, when it comes time to finding internships, sources for networking and jobs after graduation, an outstanding group of alumni in the field of sport business is waiting to lend a hand.
