Sport Sales Workshop and Job Fair to be Held
February 03, 2014
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The University of Mount Union will present the 10th annual Sport Sales Workshop and Job Fair on Friday, February 7, 2014 in Cleveland, OH.
The workshop, which will take place at Quicken Loans Arena and Progressive Field, gives college students an opportunity to interact with dozens of professionals in the sport business industry. Students also have the chance to interview with professional sports teams during the event. The event also serves as an opportunity for professional sports organizations to recruit new talent. Last year, approximately 50% of attendees were offered jobs or internships following the workshop.
According to event director Jim Kadlecek, associate professor of human performance and sport business at Mount Union, the goal of the workshop is to provide students with an overview of the skillsets needed to secure an entry-level sales position in the sport business industry. The workshop also provides students with capabilities needed for the next level to close significantly large deals, all based on the importance of face-to-face meetings with sales prospects.
“The workshop is an incredible opportunity for attendees,” Kadlecek said. “Representatives of more than 100 sports organizations will be in attendance and students will have a chance to do multiple interviews in one place as well as receive training from some of the best minds in the industry.”
During the workshop, sales executives from professional sports teams will serve as trainers. In addition to the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Indians, teams from the National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Baseball (MLB), National Hockey League (NHL), National Football League (NFL), Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), minor league baseball, minor league hockey, National Basketball Developmental League (D-League) and numerous college athletic departments will be represented.
The event will include an opening session at Quicken Loans Arena, followed by training sessions and interviews at Progressive Field for the remainder of the day.
