Spring Alumni Recital Planned for April 17

ALLIANCE, Ohio —The University of Mount Union Department of Music will present an alumni recital at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17 in Presser Recital Hall. The recital, Bella Armonia Trio. will feature violinist Mariana Szalaj, cellist Maria Fesz and pianist Diane Yazvac.

Mariana Szalaj received both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in violin performance from Youngstown State University. As a violinist in the Northeast Ohio and Pennsylvania area, Szalaj has played with the Youngstown Symphony, the Warren Philharmonic, Opera Western Reserve and the Greenville Symphony.

Maria Fesz received her Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance from Mount Union and her Master of Music degree in cello performance from Youngstown State University. Fesz has performed in numerous orchestras including the Youngstown Symphony, Alliance Symphony, Tuscarawas Philharmonic, Warren Philharmonic and Greenville Symphony. She has performed as a section cellist for the Ohio Light Opera Company in Wooster, Ohio and as a member of a professional string quartet for Holland America Cruise Line.

Diane Yazvac has been a part-time faculty member at Youngstown State University since 1999. She is known for her accompanying skills, she toured Europe with Dana Chorale playing in countries such as Italy, Switzerland and Austria.  Most recently Yazvac played with a faculty woodwind chamber group at the OMEA convention. She is the music director of the Niles Presbyterian Church and owner of a private piano studio.

The program will feature pieces by Piazzolla, Faure and Lalo.
