Student Presents iPhone Application at SCHOLAR Day
April 26, 2012
Kyle Dreger, a sophomore computer science major of Rootstown, OH, presented his iPhone application and website, WePray, during the University of Mount Union’s fifth annual SCHOLAR Day on Tuesday, April 17.
“I wanted to make an application that connects people in areas that haven’t been explored,” said Dreger. “So I came up with developing a website that allows users to pray for anyone.”
He indicated that with this app, people have the opportunity to share prayer requests with others and can submit their prayer online or from a mobile device.
Dreger illustrated his step by step process in generating his idea and producing it to be functional, starting with his early sketches of the logo. He shared the importance of the design process of the WePray logo, and the crucial decisions he made about the font, color and location. In addition, he explained the web development of the app, stating that the process of actually creating the app was challenging and valuable to his learning experience. Dreger closed his presentation by giving a live demonstration of the app.
“This app is definitely not finished,” he stated. “I hope to someday make this for churches to utilize.”
