Office of Students in Academic Transition Programs
Need help choosing a major?
The Office of Students in Academic Transition Programs works one-on-one with students who are unsure of or desire to change their major. Students can opt to take an assessment to help identify the majors that might be a good fit for their academic strengths and interests. Transfer students also will process through the office if they do not have an academic major. The office provides a variety of programming designed to assist students in applying their selected major to a career. This office also coordinates the sophomore appointment program.
Office of Academic Support
Need help studying or class assistance?
The Office of Academic Support offers a variety of services to assist day and evening students in managing their course work successfully. Individual academic counseling and study strategies matched to learning styles can help students handle difficult classes. Additionally, this office coordinates a Week 4 Progress Report in each semester for at-risk students, and oversees many outreach efforts to contact struggling students throughout the academic year. All reports are reviewed by the Director, who will attempt to contact struggling students based on the responses provided by faculty members. Also, peer tutors, who are hired and trained by the office, facilitate study groups for many courses.
Office of Career Development
Need help with internships, job search strategies or graduate/professional school entrance?
The Office of Career Development will assist you in preparing your personal career strategy by applying your selection of major to appropriate career fields. The office helps prepare students to research careers, identify and secure experiential learning opportunities (internships), and develop and implement job search strategies which include creating a resume, networking and interviewing with employers, and target job leads. Then, we’ll help facilitate the implementation of your strategy by offering job/internship fairs, graduate and professional school fairs, mock interviews, on-campus recruiting, and a variety of networking events.
