Students to Help Promote Local Businesses

ALLIANCE, Ohio — University of Mount Union students enrolled in a spring semester internet marketing course are hoping to partner with local businesses to embrace internet-based growth opportunities.

Class members will “adopt” area businesses to assist them in using the worldwide web, email and social media to build profitable customer relationships.

Mark McConnell, assistant professor of marketing who is teaching the course, has divided 30 students into 10 teams of three students each. Each team will be challenged to develop and implement an e-marketing program for its assigned business.

The students’ services are free, but business must be willing to give the student teams reasonable amounts of time, information and other resources. These expectations are fully described in the participation agreement, which is to be signed by all parties before work begins.

Businesses interested in participating should email McConnell at no later than Friday, February 6, 2013.
