Study Abroad

The Center for Global Education at the University of Mount Union is dedicated to providing students with opportunities to thrive in new cultural and academic settings. Through study abroad, students acquire invaluable academic skills and participate in field studies or internship programs in unique locations around the world. A study abroad experience provides students with an opportunity for personal and professional growth. Students learn to adapt to new environments, interact with people of different backgrounds, and gain multicultural competence.

Mount Union students may choose from a variety of approved global learning experiences.

I had the amazing opportunity of interning abroad in London, England for three months. I always knew that I wanted to study abroad since I came to Mount Union. I also needed an internship for my psychology major. Thanks to CISabroad I was able to find an internship with Get Connected, which is a multi-purpose helpline that helps youth under the age of 25 with whatever needs they may have such as struggling with mental illness or homelessness. It was single handedly the best summer of my life. While learning about other cultures, I learned about my own as well. It has given me a new outlook on life. If I ever have the opportunity to go back I would in a heart beat. I made some new friends and had adventures with some old ones. I wouldn’t have changed anything about my summer experience. Going abroad is a life changing experience and something I recommend everyone should do. - John Sopko

Once you’re bitten by the travel bug you’re infected for life. My sophomore year of college, I studied abroad in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Thai culture was unlike anything I had ever experienced, so I made a point to completely immerse myself. They call Thailand the “Land of Smiles”. You wouldn’t have to ask why if you go there, you’ll simply see it in each of their faces. They walk slowly because everything that they do has a purpose. The land is sacred, people are sacred.
