MY EXECPTIONAL STORY

Choosing a college
It was a hard decision, and I didn’t end up deciding until the last week of April. But the faculty and staff made me feel at home from my first visit here, and that was even before I became a student. I could only imagine how it would be once I was enrolled!

Community centered
Community is the word I would use to describe Mount Union. You can see it in the alumni that come back for football games or the freshmen class going through their first year together. I have created bonds here that will last for life!

A fascination for American politics
 I thought that political science offered me the best way to combine my love of history and my fascination with the U.S. political machine. I chose international studies because I really enjoy learning about different cultures and societies.

Thinking outside the classroom
I would have to choose studying abroad as my favorite experience, which is required for my international studies degree. I studied at de Haagse Hogeschool in the Netherlands. I learned so much about myself and the Dutch culture. I still think about some part of my trip every single day.

An influential professor
Dr. William Cunion (professor of political science) has influenced every aspect of my university career. I met him as a junior in high school at a Mount Union event, and even though he teased me about coming from Hoover (he attended our rival school) a bond was formed. He encouraged me to apply and was one of the main reasons I ultimately chose Mount Union. He has guided me advised me, and helped me through all of these years. Dr. Cunion’s confidence in my abilities heightens the confidence I have in myself.
